Send e-Consent to IRB for Review

Purpose: Guide instructions to generate a Survey Access Code that can be provided through the myIRB system for a REDCap e-consent Survey Review.  The IRB will only ask to review the e-Consent survey during the initial approval process.

  1. Select Add/Edit Records

    1. If “Auto-number for records” is enabled, click + ADD new record

    2. If “Auto-number for records” is disabled, enter a record ID and hit enter

    3. Record Home Page → gray square next to the Participant Information

       

    4. Enter a 4-digit PIN into the PIN field

    5. In upper right-hand corner, click the lower blue button and select “Save & Stay.” If you get an error that says “NOTE: Some fields are required!” click “Okay”

       

    6. Click Record Status Dashboard à gray circle under the e-consent instrument name in the row for the record you created

    7. Scroll to the top of the page and find the dropdown menu titled “Survey options” at the top right corner of the instrument. Click it and choose Survey Access Code and QR Code.

    8. When the Survey Access Code and QR Code dialog box appears, copy the URL in the text box titled Go to this web address: and the code in the text box titled Then enter this code: and paste them in a response to a question in myIRB. If your eConsent survey requires a PIN or password, provide that in the response to the question in IRB as well.

       

    9. Once URL, Survey Access Code, and PIN have been submitted in response to the question in myIRB, you have completed this process and can click Close on the Survey Access Code and QR Code dialog box

REMEMBER!!  After the IRB approves the ICF, return to e-Consent project to add the IRB stamp information to the appropriate field and update the instrument names to include the Approval date. Return to the SOP for specifics on these steps.
