Move from External Module to Built-in Tools

Purpose: Guide to moving from the Multi Signature Consent external module to the PDF Snapshot built in feature.

Copy Logic from Multi Signature Consent External Module

  1. Log in to REDCap and navigate to e-Consent project

  2. Select Manage next to External Modules in the left-hand menu then Configure

  3. Highlight and copy the logic in the Update Logic box:

  4. Click Cancel to exit module


e-Consent and PDF Snapshot

  1. Online Designer → select e-Consent and PDF Snapshots

  2. Click the PDF Snapshots of Records tab

    1. Click +Add new trigger

    2. Name of Trigger: Fully Executed Consent Upload App mmddyyyy

    3. Step 1: Trigger conditions

    4. Every time the following survey is completed: → ---select a survey---

    5. When the following logic becomes true (only once per record): à Paste logic from Multi Signature Consent Module

      1. This logic box does not say whether the logic is valid

    6. STEP 2: Scope of the snapshot

    7. Click pencil → select deselect all then check only “Informed Consent Form V2.00 App mmddyyyy” and click Update

    8. Check Save as Compact PDF (includes only fields with saved data)

    9. If using Multi-language Management, check Store the translated version of the PDF

    10. Step 3: Location(s) to save the snapshot

    11. Check Save to File Repository

    12. Check Save to a specified field → select “signed_consent_form_v1”

    13. STEP 4: Snapshot file name

    14. File name: → remove “_id[record-name]”

    15. File name: pid[project-id]_form[instrument-label]

    16. Click Save

Disable Multi Signature Consent External Module

  1. Select Manage next to External Modules in the left-hand menu

  2. Click Disable next Multi Signature Consent – V1.1.3  then Disable module

Test e-Consent Project to ensure the process works correctly.
