This release is scheduled for March 11, 2025.

Content below curated and copied from Atlassian release notes for our production environment.

Confluence Updates

An easier way to locate your content within a space

We've beautified and enhanced the breadcrumbs (the path showing content's location within a space) at the top of every piece of content, so now it's easier than ever to review where your content is within an entire content tree.

Select the space name in the breadcrumbs of your content. A dropdown will appear, clearly displaying the full breadcrumbs path of your content's location in the content tree. You can also opt to move your content by selecting Move from the dropdown. This new and improved breadcrumbs experience will be available everywhere you can view and create content in Confluence.

Create Jira issues from tables

We’ve made it easier to create Jira issues from tables on Confluence pages. Just highlight the relevant rows in your table and select “Create Jira issues”. We will generate a preview of your Jira issues and automatically prefill the issue description and summary using your highlighted text. You can then edit, delete or create the issues.

NOTE: This functionality is already available in production.

Removing manual automation triggers from page view

We are removing the manual automation trigger (lightning bolt icon) option from the page header.

You can now access manual automation rules from the More menu (three dots icon) in the left sidebar.

  1. Select the three dots menu on a content item in the sidebar to open the More menu.

  2. Then select Automate. If you have manually triggered rules set up, the Page automations window opens.

Improved error for Smart Links in the content tree

When we can’t render the link you’ve inserted as an embedded Smart Link in the content tree, you’ll see why it can’t be displayed, and you can navigate you to the original link.

Get contextual suggestions with the new Atlassian Intelligence (AI) button in Confluence

We're introducing a new, floating menu for Atlassian Intelligence features, which Premium and Enterprise customers can access from the bottom right of any published page in Confluence. Currently, this new button is where you'll go whenever you want an AI-generated page summary, comments summary, or summary of changes. We'll also add new AI actions to this button going forward.

To make things even better, you no longer have to sort through a long list of AI actions to find the right one. Instead, Atlassian Intelligence will infer the most relevant action from context and suggest it to you. Don't worry, though — if you need something else, just select the AI icon next to the button text to see a list of other AI actions you can take.

Atlassian Intelligence is available to all customers with Premium and Enterprise plans. Organization admins can manage Atlassian Intelligence preferences from Settings > Atlassian Intelligence in Atlassian Administration.

To try out the new AI button:

  1. Navigate to a published page or blog post in Confluence Cloud.

  2. Select the text next to the Atlassian Intelligence icon to perform the displayed action, or select the icon itself to choose an action from the menu.

Editor: No more duplicate comment notifications

We're updating the notification system in Confluence to stop sending duplicate comment notifications when a user is mentioned. This change aims to reduce the number of emails you receive without affecting the notification of mentions.

What's new:

  • Stop duplicate notifications: You will no longer receive a batched comment notification if you are mentioned.

  • Immediate mention alerts: You will continue to receive immediate notifications when mentioned.

Whiteboard Updates

Sticky note authors in whiteboards

Keep track of who contributed what by showing author names on sticky notes in Confluence whiteboards. When enabled, names appear in the lower left corner of each sticky note. Toggle visibility for individual or multiple sticky notes.

Note that authors are only available for sticky notes created after this feature is released.

To toggle author names:

  1. Select one or more sticky notes

  2. Click the "Show author" or "Hide author" button in the sticky note toolbar

Curved lines in whiteboards

Create curved lines and connectors in Confluence whiteboards, in addition to the existing straight and dynamic lines, for more flexible and customizable diagramming.

To create a curved line, select a line on the whiteboard, select Line type, and choose the Curved option. Then start moving the drag handles to shape the line however you like.

Create more customizable lines and connectors in Confluence whiteboards. Added drag handles on lines now allow you to create more complex and flexible lines for all your diagramming and brainstorming needs.

Start dragging to get started. As you shape a line, more drag handles will appear.

Databases Updates

Improved importing data into databases

We’ve improved importing data into Confluence databases for a more accurate, streamlined process. You can import CSV files or simply copy and paste content.

  • CSV import: When importing a CSV file into an empty database, field types, and headers are automatically detected, eliminating the need for an additional step.

  • Copy/paste: Paste data from other tabular structures directly into Confluence databases, with visual indicators for any errors or warnings. Additionally, pasting into attachment fields is now supported.

Notification for mentions in databases

Users can now be notified when they are mentioned in Confluence databases. Collaborate more seamlessly by ensuring the right team members are in the loop on work.

Notifications are enabled by default for the user field. If access is restricted, mentioned users will not be notified.

To disable mention notifications, open the user field settings, and uncheck Send notification to mentioned user.

image-20250218-195111.png

NOTE: If the ‘Send notification to mentioned user’ is enabled in the field settings, a notification will be sent to the @mentioned user notifying them of the mention and a pop-up message will appear the lower left-hand corner of the screen notifying you that the @mentioned user will receive a notification and provides a link to the field settings where the notification setting can be disabled.

Updates to Confluence's daily digest

We're excited to roll out new enhancements for our daily digest. In this update, you'll receive a summary of the pages and blogs you've watched and viewed.

Jira and JSM Updates

New and improved tables in all rich text fields

We’ve improved the experience of creating and customizing tables in all rich text fields (including description and comments) in an issue, matching the capabilities of the full-page editor in Confluence.

Highlighted search terms in in-product help

When you search in in-product help, we'll highlight your search terms in results so you can quickly see how the results relate to the terms you've entered.

To search in in-product help, select the help (question mark) icon in the navigation and enter your query in the search field.

Note: In-product help is available in many screens in Jira, including in software, service desk, and work management projects. There may be some screens where in-product help isn't available yet.

Due date now appears on company-managed boards and backlog cards

To help keep your company-managed projects on track, we now show the due date field by default on board and backlog cards. The due date appears if at least one card has the due date set.

You no longer have to manually add this field to the card layout in Board settings. But if you’d like to hide this field, select the View settings icon and toggle off the Due date field.

NOTE: Current functionality allows you to setup the card layout adding three fields of your choice, due date can be one of these selected fields. With the new functionality, you won’t have to have due date field listed, it will show by default so a different field can then be selected to be viewed on the card.

Atlassian Fast Facts

Tips and information for WashU Atlassian users.

Confluence:

Using Tables:

Fixed column widths for tables:

You can set column widths to fixed, ensuring that your table layout remains consistent even on narrow screens. This option is available in Table options in the table toolbar and is unchecked by default, allowing tables to scale as they always have. For those who prefer their tables to respond dynamically to screen sizes, Atlassian has increased the maximum scaling to give your tables even more flexibility.

How to use:

  1. Insert or select a table on your page.

  2. Select the Table options icon in the table toolbar.

  3. Select the Fixed column widths option to prevent your table columns from scaling down on narrow screens.

Table alignment options:

You can easily align your tables to the left or center of the page. A new button has been added to the table toolbar, allowing you to quickly select your preferred alignment. When you insert a table in full-width pages - these are now left aligned by default.

How to use:

  1. Insert or select a table on your page.

  2. Select the alignment options icon in the table toolbar.

  3. Select your desired alignment: left or center.
