Search for a specimen if you want to view more details about that specimen. For example, you would search for a specimen if you wanted to find out which patient, institution, or study was associated with that specimen. You can also read notes attached to the specimen.

To search for a specimen, select Specimens from the Search panel on left side of the screen. Specimen search screen appears.

The Specimen Search screen provides two ways to search for a specimen:

  1. By Specimen ID: As you start typing the Specimen ID, system suggests the list of specimens that contain the entered ID. From the suggestions, select the desired specimen ID and select Search to view information about that specimen.


  1. By Patient ID: As you start typing the Patient ID, system suggests the list of specimens that contain the entered ID. From the suggestions, select the desired specimen ID and select Search to view information about the specimens for patients you are authorized to view with the entered Patient ID.



As an example, you can search for a specimen by typing the Specimen ID into the field provided, and selecting the Search button. The Specimen search results screen appears.


Specimen search results screen shows the Specimen ID, a description of the specimen, Patient initials, Patient ID, Study ID, and the Status of the specimen.
