Activate Compute Service

Assumptions

If you are reading this document, it is assumed that you:

  • Have been assigned a Wash U WUSTL Key Identity,

  • Are or work for Research Faculty or Staff,

  • Are on local Wash U computer networks, have access to the Wash U Medical School VPN or the Danforth VPN.

  • Have read and comply with the User Agreement.

Request Compute Access

The following steps are required to activate access to the Compute service for you and your research group.

  1. Collect the following information about you and your lab or research group:
    • Faculty WUSTL Key ID

    • WUSTL Key IDs for the members of your lab or research group

    • Department Number - 6 digit department number

    • WorkDay Cost Center Number

    • Campus Location - The physical building or the network IP address, which you can get by using this Speedtest site).

    • Technical Contact - The WUSTL Key ID of a member of your lab RIS can contact regarding technical aspects of the service.

    • Billing Contact - The WUSTL Key ID of a member of your lab RIS can contact regarding billing.

    • Any Storage Service Allocations you intend to integrate with the Compute service.

  2. Visit the RIS Service Desk request form and submit a request to activate services.

    Upon completion of the service request, the faculty WUSTL Key ID as well as the members of the research group will have been added to an Active Directory User Group and will have access to the Compute service.
