Release Highlights

  • New and improved tracking for the quality of the received biospecimen: Current data values for received specimen quality was not detailed enough to include all possible scenarios. Data values for received specimen quality have been revised and in total there are 21 status values. For all status values other than "Acceptable", the user (CRA) who collected and logged the biospecimen in BioMS would receive an email with instructions on what to do to resolve if there are any issues or will advise the user on future biospecimen collections. A detailed description and biorepository action for each of the new received biospecimen quality value can be reviewed at the following publicly available link.  Specimen Quality Values
  • Capture funding related information for the studies and biospecimen collections: In order to help with billing, reporting and analytics, three new attributes will be setup at the collection protocol, Specimen Requirements and Baseline Time point during the initial study setup in BioMS by the BioMS administrator.
  • Improve the biospecimen kit management process: Currently, there is nothing preventing the user who submitted the request to modify the kit request, until the request has been fulfilled. A new processing step has been added so that the user who submitted the kit request cannot make changes once the request has been taken for process by the biorepository staff.  This is accomplished by the biorepository staff by clicking a button "Process" against the kit request and changing its status to "In Process" from "Open". This is to avoid last minute changes to the kit requests by the requester while the biorepository staff is performing the kit fulfillment.
