Clearer icon for opening comments in Confluence

We’ve updated the icon used to open the comment panel in Confluence. The new icon makes it easier to understand how to open comments on your content.

To get started with this change:

Open any Confluence content type, such as a published page or blog post.
Select the icon to open the comment panel.

Dangling comments: Improved filtering & context for deleted content

Confluence now offers a dedicated filter for inline comments whose anchor text has been deleted, known as dangling comments. This update declutters the Open and Unread sections by moving these comments to a new Deleted content filter, and provides historical context for deleted highlights, making it easier to review and manage unresolved comments.

To get started with this change:

Open a Confluence page with inline comments.
Select the Comments panel.
Choose the Deleted content filter to view any dangling comments.
Review the historical context for each comment where available.

Generate titles for pasted content using AI

When you paste a large amount of text into an empty Confluence page, Rovo will automatically generate a summarized title using AI. This feature is available to customers who've enabled AI.

To generate titles using AI:

Create a Confluence page without a title or editor content.
Paste 50 or more characters into the page and Rovo will generate a title summarizing your content.

Find content anywhere on your page with new improvements to Find and Replace in Edit mode

We've improved the Find and Replace feature, allowing you to search for content in more places when editing, including statuses (macro), dates (macro), mentions, and titles of expands (macro). While you can now find content in these areas, replacing is not supported for them. We've also made color updates to provide better contrast.

Add AI descriptions to dynamic cards

Dynamic cards now feature AI-generated descriptions. When you use dynamic cards in Confluence, you can now have a summary of the content added to the card.

AI-generated summaries can contain errors or inaccuracies. The use of AI in dynamic cards is optional and can be turned off.

Descriptions are now enabled by default on new dynamic cards elements. To remove the AI-generated descriptions, select the element, then the pencil icon to edit settings. Turn the Description toggle off.

A smoother editing experience without bidirectional character warnings

The warning about bidirectional characters has been removed from code blocks in the Confluence Cloud editor and renderer. You will no longer see this message when working with code content.

To see this update in action:

Open any Confluence content type that uses the cloud editor.
Add or edit a code block containing bidirectional characters.
Notice that the previous warning about bidirectional characters no longer appears.

Edit macros in the side panel for a streamlined experience

You can now edit the Blog Posts macro directly in the Confluence Editor's side panel, instead of using the previous pop-up modals. This update makes it easier to manage macro settings and preview changes while editing your Confluence pages.

To explore this change:

Open a page in the Confluence Editor.
Insert a Blog Posts macro onto your page.
Edit the macro settings in the side panel that appears.

Bulk create Jira work items from tables in the Confluence editor

You can now create Jira work items in bulk directly from tables while editing Confluence pages or working in live docs. This update brings the same bulk creation experience previously available in view mode to the editor, making it easier to manage and track work without leaving Confluence.

Open a Confluence page in edit mode or a live doc.
Highlight multiple rows of a table containing the items you want to create as Jira work items.
Select the ellipse icon from the tollbar and select 'create Jira work items.
Follow the prompts to bulk create Jira work items from the highlighted table.

More ways to find people using email addresses

There are now more ways you can search for people using email addresses. This makes it easier to find the right people when multiple users have the same name or if you only know someone's email address. Any Confluence surface with a user search field has this updated behavior, including share, change owner, content manager, and more.

Go to any user search field in Confluence, such as share, change owner, or content manager.
Enter an email address into the user search field.
Select the right person from the entries that appear.

Summarize differences between versions of a page

Use Atlassian Intelligence to generate a summary of differences between two versions of a page. This feature makes it easier to get a sense of what's changed between versions quickly.

To use this feature:

Navigate to a page in Confluence Cloud.
Select ••• from the top right, then select Version history.
Select two versions to compare, then select Summarize differences.

Atlassian Intelligence will display a summary of changes made to the page between the versions you selected.

A refreshed feed with less onboarding content

Onboarding content will now be filtered out of your 'popular' and 'following' feeds in Confluence. This makes it easier to focus on content that matters most to you.

Jira Updates

A new way to run team stand-ups directly in Jira

We are adding the option to facilitate a standup with your team inside Jira. This feature lets you run team standups without leaving Jira, making it easier to keep everyone in sync and focused on work items.

The stand-up feature in Jira now offers a more robust experience, including participant persistence, a redesigned interface, new customization settings, and a built-in feedback collector. These updates help teams run stand-ups more efficiently and tailor the experience to their needs.

To try out the improved stand-up experience:

Open your Jira space and navigate to the ‘Active Sprints’ or ‘Kanban Board’ view.
Select Start stand-up from the board settings menu to view the updated experience.
Use the new customization settings option to adjust your stand-up preferences.

Replacing "None" with clearer default field values

Jira fields that previously showed “None” when empty will now display clear action prompts like “Add date” or “Add text.” This change aims to make it easier to see where information can be added.

Improved toolbar adaptability for bulk operations

The bulk operations toolbar now automatically adapts to smaller screen sizes. When space is limited, some actions are consolidated into the More actions (...) menu. This will apply to your backlog, list, and work item navigator view.

A simpler way to archive child work items in epics

This update introduces the ability to archive an epic's child work items when you're archiving the epic. You can now easily manage and tidy up your epics by archiving related work items that are no longer active or needed.

To archive child work items in your epics (ensure you have archive permissions):

Open an epic containing child work items.
Select Archive for the epic (either on the board, or within the work item view).
Select the option to archive child work items.
Select Archive again.

Increased visibility of unscheduled work in Calendar view

We’re making it easier to stay on top of unscheduled tasks. The unscheduled work panel shows epics, work items and child work items.

It’ll now open by default when you access the calendar view. This will help you keep track and schedule work to keep projects moving forward.

See relevant work items in the All work tab

You can now see work items that match your most recently used filters when you visit the All work tab for a Jira space.

To see these work items in the All work tab:

In your Jira project, select the All work tab
Apply filters on work items that are relevant to you.

Copy work item links in the All work view

You can now quickly copy work item links directly from the All work view so it's easier to share work items with your team.

To copy a work item link in the All work view:

Hover over the work item key you want to copy.
Select Copy link to copy the work item link to your clipboard.

Plans load faster to reduce initial load time

You’ll now experience a faster loading experience in your Jira plans.

Relocating the AI Work Breakdown trigger to make it easier to find in Jira Plans

The "Suggest child work items" (AI Work Breakdown) trigger in Jira Plans has been moved to a more visible location in the issue menu. This change makes it easier for users to discover and use AI-powered suggestions when breaking down work, helping teams create child issues more efficiently.

Access Rovo from anywhere in Jira

The Rovo button is now visible on all Jira views (with the exception of the ‘All work’ view), allowing you to access Rovo capabilities almost anywhere in Jira.

To access Rovo capabilities in Jira, open any Jira view and look for the Rovo button in the bottom right of your screen.
