Atlassian Fast Facts
Tips and information for WashU Atlassian users.
Number fields now support three numerical options in databases
We are updating the definition of number fields to ensure greater consistency and clarity. With this change, number fields will now strictly accept only numerical values. Any custom format number fields that include special characters (such as text or custom prefixes/suffixes) will be moved to text fields. This ensures that number fields are used exclusively for numerical data.
Number fields now support three formatting options: number, currency, or percentage. These can be selected when customizing a number field.
If your existing number field contains special characters or text, it will be converted to a text field to preserve your data.

Syntax highlighting for code blocks in Confluence
Syntax highlighting to code blocks in the Confluence editor are now available. To use this feature, make sure to select the correct programming language for accurate color coding. This enhancement supports most programming languages.
Improvements to presence on pages and live docs
There are updates to telepointers on pages and live docs -- specifically when users are editing.
We’ve deduplicated telepointers, so you will only ever see one telepointer for each user.
Telepointers now temporarily expand to show a user’s full name when you hover.
You can now find an editor's telepointer by clicking on their avatar in the header. You can only find a currently active editor’s telepointer, not people who aren't currently editing.
Hover card visual update for external links
We've revamped the hover cards in Confluence to provide a smoother and more visually appealing experience. This update prevents layout shifts and ensures that hover cards are not displayed for the content you're currently viewing.
To explore the new hover card design in Confluence:
Open relevant Confluence content.
Hover over a link to an external page.

Usability improvements on the Releases tab in Plans
With this update, we've brought some new functionality to the Releases tab in Plans:
You can now rerank releases within their projects (see image)

View your calendar one week at a time
When looking at the Calendar view in your plan, you can now isolate to see one week at a time.
Turn releases off and on in your plan
Releases are a powerful tool for planning work for software teams, but for Marketing or Design teams? Not so much. For planners who don't need to see releases information from their plans, you can now hide it for a simpler planning experience.
When you turn releases off in your plan, you’ll no longer see:
the Releases tab
the Releases field from the timeline as well as any filters that use it
release markers on the timeline, calendar, and program board
the option to group work items by assigned releases in the View settings menu
any rolled up dates based on releases
For a full breakdown of this new feature, read more in our documentation.
To turn releases on or off in your plan:
Next to your plan’s name in the sidebar, select More actions (•••), then Plan settings.
Select Features, then toggle Releases. If you have unsaved changes related to releases, you’ll be asked to confirm that you want to discard these changes.
In the modal that opens, confirm your choice.

It just got easier to keep on top of your unread comments
We’re introducing an unread badge (blue dot) in the Comments column in the list view to help you easily identify work items with unread comments. This allows you to stay on top of important discussion and collaborate with your team.
To make sure you get to try this feature, we’ll be automatically adding the Comments column to all list views.
Formatted cells will still show color on hover in List view
We’ve introduced hover color to formatted cells in the list view, so you won’t lose the color when hovering over a row. How to create a format rule

Edit fields directly in the All work tab
You can now edit most fields directly from the list view in All work. This allows you to make changes from the one place.
