Terminology Changes Coming to Jira:
Atlassian is changing the terminology currently used in Jira. “Issue” terminology is changing to “Work” or “Work Item” in Jira. As Atlassian implements this change, you may still encounter the term ‘Issue’ in some areas of the tool, rest assure the vendor will be working to resolve these inconsistencies as soon as possible. For additional information on this change, please see the following article: It's here: 'Work' is the new collective term for all items you track in Jira
Need access to Confluence or Jira?
Just fill out the fields requested in this form and we’ll take care of the rest!
Confluence Updates
View linked Jira work items on a page
You can now find linked Jira work items next to the navigation breadcrumbs at the top of your page. Select Jira work items to see the work items linked on your Confluence page that belong to the Jira product on the same site.
A unified way to share and manage access to content
Confluence sharing and access just got a revamp. It’s now clearer who has access to content and who needs access and how to give it to them. It’s also easier to distribute content, with more control over when and how you send notifications.
You can find visuals and a video walkthrough of the new experience in the announcement in Atlassian Community.
View reactions in email notifications
We're updating Confluence email notifications to display the actual emoji reaction a user has made to content or comments. This will only include standard emojis and not custom ones.
What's new:
Display of reactions in emails: See the actual emoji reaction in email notifications.
Improved clarity: Know exactly what emoji a user reacted with.
Layouts, sorting coming to cards
The Cards macro in Confluence content will have a few new options.
You will now be able to change the layout of cards, displaying them as a row that scrolls or multiple stacks. If you select stacked, you can set the alignment of the cards within the macro to left, center, or right.
Also, dynamic cards can now be sorted by creation time in addition to the last time the linked content was modified.
To insert the Cards macro in Confluence doc, type /cards and select the Cards macro.
Select the edit icon (pencil) and configure your cards in the right-side panel.
Select the Display as and Alignment options to change the layout of your cards. (Pro tip: You might need to add more than the default three cards to see any difference in these options.)
Private mode in whiteboards
Have more open team collaboration by using private mode in whiteboards to hide collaborator edits.
Enable private mode from the right-side toolbar.
Database Updates
Import CSV for databases is simpler and more seamless
We're introducing significant improvements to CSV import. Users can now seamlessly add or replace data in their existing databases, making it easier to manage existing database information.
You will receive the following options when importing to a database that has existing data:
Version history now available for databases
You can now view and restore previous versions of your databases, giving you greater flexibility and control over your database content.
To view a database's history, open the database's ••• menu in the top right and select History.
From there, you can view previous versions of the database. You can restore a previous version by selecting it and then selecting Restore as new database. This will create a new database using that version’s content. Permissions on the new database will be the same as the original.
Jira Updates
Create embedded release notes with a Confluence template
You can now create release notes in an embedded Confluence page using our improved release notes template.
When you start the release process, you can create release notes in a Confluence page. Select the issue types and Jira fields you want to add to the template.
The release notes will open in a new Confluence page that you can edit and share.
It’s now easier to configure fields for child issues
We’ve added configurable fields for child issues to the issue view. You can choose which fields you want to see, and edit fields for your child issues all from the one place.
To add columns for your child issues in the issue view:
Select the
icon at the top right of the list of child issues. A dropdown menu will appear.
Choose a field from the dropdown. The field will be added as a column in the list.
Improved performance and reliability for CSV exports / Export up to 10,000 issues to CSV
If you need to export your Jira issues, you’ll notice a faster and smoother experience due to the following improvements:
Speed and reliability — the export process is faster and can handle a large number of fields and extensive data sets
Tracking and control — you can monitor the progress of your export, and cancel if needed
To try it out, go to the Issues page in your project. Select Export, then select a CSV export option. Note that only one CSV export can be processed at a time.
You can also now export up to 10,000 issues at once, allowing for more comprehensive data analysis and reporting.
Keep in mind exporting a large number of issues with many fields can take time. For a smoother experience, we recommend these best practices before you export:
Optimize your JQL query. Refine your JQL query to only include relevant issues. This helps keep the number of issues within the limit and avoids unnecessary data processing.
Select specific fields. In the issue search view, you can choose to export the current fields or filter specific fields. To speed up the export and make your CSV file easier to manage, only choose the fields you need.
Avoid exporting all fields. This can significantly slow down the process and result in large files that are difficult to manage.
To try it out, first log in, then select Issues. Find Export issues, and select Export to CSV from the dropdown menu.
Cloning Work Items
Improvements to cloning in Jira
Several improvements to your cloning experience in Jira.
Epics and Work Items: You can now clone child work items, comments, change the assignee and the reporter.
Automatically clone a work item
You can now set a work item to automatically clone on a preset schedule. No need to create the same work item over and over for the tasks you regularly need.
Cloned work items will automatically inherit all the same fields, except for attachments, start dates, due dates, and links.
To automatically clone a work item:
Open a Jira work item and select Actions at the top-right of the screen.
Select Set to recur.
Enter when it should recur and for how long.
Once saved, a success flag will let you know the rule has been created.
Smart Links are now available in more fields
Add and view Smart Links in URL and short text fields. This will apply to your issue, list, board, and backlog views.
From your list or issue view, copy a valid URL link into a URL or short text field.

Updates to Commenting
Reply to comments for meaningful conversations in Jira
You can now reply to comments in Jira instead of stacking them, making it easier to have conversations.
To try this feature out:
Navigate to an issue that contains comments.
Locate the comment you want to reply to.
Select Reply, type your comment, and then select Save.
Respond to comments faster with Atlassian Intelligence (AI)
You can now use Atlassian Intelligence (AI) to suggest responses to comments on your issues. By leveraging the context of your work and any prior comments, AI helps you craft relevant responses more efficiently.
When viewing an issue, select one of the AI prompts to generate a response that you can review, edit, and submit.

More historical data available in velocity charts
Velocity charts in Jira now show data from more sprints, giving you a clearer picture of your team's productivity over a longer period of time. We've also added an average line so you can easily track your team's average output at a glance. Read more about the velocity chart
To view the velocity chart:
Start in your Jira software project.
Select Reports.
Select Velocity chart.
NOTE: Velocity charts are only available for scrum projects.
Plans Updates:
Change the issue fields that show in the Program board directly from view settings
Show or hide issue fields such as Parent, Priority, Status, and more, from directly within the Program board. With the new issue field settings panel there’s no need to navigate to the timeline or project issue view.
In the Program board go to View settings. Turn the issue fields you wish to display on or off.
Issues now display as a modal in the Program board
The Program board now shows an issue view modal when you click on any issue, just as it does on any Jira board. The modal will show the summary, description, and parent field values.
Quickly clear filters in your calendar
We’ve added a Clear filters button that shows when one or more filters are applied to the calendar. Selecting this will clear all active filters so you can see all scheduled work in the view, removing the need to manually clear each filter yourself.
To try out this improvement, head to the calendar by going to your project, then select Calendar in the navigation.
JSM Updates
Introducing weekly view for the JSM calendar
We’re excited to add the highly requested week view to Jira Service Management's calendar alongside the existing monthly view of work. Now, you can plan, track, and prioritize work with a focused view week by week, and schedule work items by the hour for more granular control of your tasks and requests.
Go to Calendar in your service project's navigation.
Select the Month menu, and switch to Week.
View and schedule your work items on the calendar by week.
Request type settings table improvements
We've improved the table in request types settings to offer a simpler, more functional view of the request types in your service project. These improvements provide admins with greater flexibility to customize their view to suit their needs and preferences, making it easier to manage a project's request types.
To experience these updates, go to Project settings, then Request management, and then Request types. You'll see the table displaying all of the request types you have in your service project. The new functionality means you can now:
resize and reorder columns by using the drag handles in the table's header row
sort by columns from each column's header cell
filter the view by some or all work types, request type groups, or portal groups by using the filters above the table.
From the View settings button, we've introduced the ability to:
show or hide columns by using the toggle next to each column name. Note that the 'Request type' and 'Actions' columns cannot be hidden or moved.
display request types in grouped sections in the table, by choosing to group them by work type, workflow, request type group, or portal group.
As part of these improvements, we're making the 'Request type groups' feature available to all users by default (previously it could be enabled from the Features section in project settings). Request type groups can be used to group related request types within a single project, improving visibility and management for the team(s) handling these requests. Find out more about using request type groups.
