How can I test modifications to a project in production before implementing the modifications?
Testing modifications to a production project can be difficult because the modifications do not exist in the project until they are submitted for review and approved. Some modifications may not require testing such as adding a field to an existing instrument. However, modifications to branching logic, survey queue logic, automated survey invitations, and many other modifications require testing before implementation.
If you would like to test modifications to a project before submitting them for approval, best practice is to create a copy of the current project.
To make a copy:
Select Project Setup
Select Other Functionality
Scroll down and select Copy the Project
Change the project title. Leave the purpose as is.
Determine whether to keep records and users in the copy. It is recommended that you “All records” and “Users and their user rights” unchecked in most circumstances. Only keep “All records” checked if they are required for testing purposes. If you can test by adding new records, uncheck “All records.” Only check “Users and their user rights” if additional users are required for testing.
After you are completed testing, please delete the test project by going to Project Setup, then Other Functionality, scrolling down and selecting delete
Type the word DELETE to complete
