Create a Record Label to Appear on the Record Status Dashboard and Instrument
Description
Set a Record Label that will appear on the Record Status Dashboard and Instruments in addition the Record ID.
Purpose
This feature has several uses including but not limited to:
Include a study specific ID (RCT0001), name, or other identifier when using a public survey in which record IDs are automatically generated
Include an area of study when collecting data for a trainee application
Include a grant title, grant submission cycle, etc. for a project requesting grant applications, i.e., mock study section
Include a sample ID for a repository of metadata for physical specimens
Steps by Step Instructions
Navigate to Project Setup
In the Enable optional modules and customizations section, select Additional Customizations
Click the checkbox next to Set a Custom Record Label
Type the Record Label into the text box next to Custom Record Label. This can be static text, piped variables by placing a variable name within square brackets [], or a combination of both.
Scroll to the bottom of the Additional Customizations dialog box and click Save
If there are no records in the project, create a test record
Navigate to the Record Status Dashboard. The Record Label should be displayed next to the Record ID
Open an instrument for a record. The Record Label will appear at the top of the instrument next to the Record ID
Troubleshooting
If piped variables are included and:
Display as a variable name with square brackets, check to ensure the variable name in the record label matches exactly the variable name in the Online Designer or Codebook
Have an underline and no data, ensure there is data for the fields piped for that specific record
