Why does WashU REDCap use the LTS version?

The LTS version of REDCap is generally considered to be more stable (i.e. less buggy) than the standard release. This is mainly because it receives new features/functionality at a lower frequency, in which it is thought that new features also inadvertently introduce more bugs. The extent to which LTS is more stable varies over time, but it could be said that LTS is "slightly" or "moderately" more stable than the standard release, given its historical track record. This does *not* imply that the standard release is not stable in any way. However, given the size of the WashU REDCap instance and the nature of the projects, we believe it is best to use the LTS version to reduce operational disruptions due to increased bugs.
