25 - Electronic Shipment Changes

Beginning April 3, 2026, BioMS implemented an update to the process for creating electronic shipments. Previously, BioMS allowed a single electronic shipment to include specimens from multiple patients and/or multiple collection timepoints. Moving forward, each electronic shipment must contain specimens from only one patient and a single collection timepoint.

For studies that allow batch shipment, multiple electronic shipments may be included in the same package. However, users must ensure that:

• Specimens and the corresponding BioMS shipment manifest for each electronic shipment are packed together, and

• Each electronic shipment is placed in a separate bag within the package.

This change is intended to reduce confusion and improve processing efficiency for repository staff when physical shipments are received at the Alliance Biorepositories.
